Visiting our church

OPENING HOURS

The church is open every day of the week:

  • Monday to Saturday: 9.00am to 5.30pm
  • Sunday: 1.00pm to 6.00pm outside Sunday service times

Note: Visitors are welcome at any time, although occasionally weddings or funerals will restrict access.

You can find service times on our home page and in our calendar, and on the noticeboard outside church. If you would like to check any details, please call our Parish Administrator on 0117 950 8644 or email office@westbury-parish-church.org.uk.

GETTING HERE

BUS
Westbury-on-Trym is on the No. 1 First Bus route and the No. 10, 11 and 13 Stagecoach bus routes. The closest stop to the church is the Westbury Village stop on Canford Lane, near the war memorial. It takes about 5–10 minutes to walk to the church from the bus stop.

BIKE
There are two cycle stands to the right of the church gates.

CAR
The church car park is available when the church is open and has space for about 10 cars.

If the church car park is full, the Westbury Hill public car park (BS9 3UJ) is close by and offers three hours’ free parking from Monday to Saturday, plus all-day free parking on Sunday.

To get to it from the church, drive to the end of Church Road, turn left into the High Street and then left again at the war memorial roundabout onto Westbury Hill. The car park entrance is 50 yards up the hill on the left.

ACCESSIBILITY

WHEELCHAIR USERS
The church car park has an accessible parking space close to the main entrance.

The Westbury Hill public car park has three accessible parking spaces. However, these spaces are furthest from the church and the route from the car park is not straightforward for wheelchair users. If necessary, we suggest that you drop off any disabled visitors in the church forecourt before parking in the Westbury Hill public car park.

ON FOOT
If you are walking to the church from the car park, there is a public footpath (part compacted stone and part tarmac) that leads to the church from the far side of Westbury-on-Trym Primary Care Centre. There is a green sign to guide you. At the end of the path, there are three steep steps with no handrail that take you down to the church forecourt.

Alternatively, if you are walking to the church from the top of the hill, there is a path on the left side of Westbury-on-Trym Village Hall on Eastfield Road that takes you directly down the hill to the south door of the church, and thence to the west door. Although the path is tarmac, it slopes quite steeply in parts.

THE CHURCH BUILDING
There is a level approach to the right of the outer doors or three equal stone steps with handrails on either side in front of the building.

Through the outer doors, there are four steps with handrails. There is also a platform lift if you would prefer not to use the steps. Instructions on how to operate the lift are located to the right of the entrance. Inside the church, there are three further steps between the nave and the choir stalls. The church floor is largely covered with stone.

TOILETS

There are two toilets within the church, one of which is suitable for ambulant disabled people.

Note: these are only available to visitors during services and events because they are within a secured area.
